The ART Series is the beating heart of RCF. These multiple purpose active speakers represent the finest examples of audio design in a rugged composite cabinet, now in black.
The MK4 Series is equipped with a new generation of 2-way Class-D fan-less amplifiers, high-powered woofers and the latest compression driver technology, plus a redesigned front grille.
The ART concept offers the best audio choice for a multitude of live sound applications in a plug‘n’go device.Just connect your microphone, your mixer or your audio device to the speaker and turn up the volume: there are no complex menus, no knobs to understand.
Amplification
POWERFUL CLASS D AMPLIFIERS
The integrated DSP manages full loudspeaker processing, FiRPHASE filters, crossover and EQ, soft limiter, and dynamic bass boost. Class-D power amplifier’ s technology packs huge performance operating with high efficiency into a lightweight solution. The amplifier features a solid mechanical aluminium structure which not only stabilises the amplifier during transportation but helps the fan-less heat dissipation.
A NEW PERSPECTIVE ON LINEARITY
RCF speakers are designed by using FiRPHASE, a proprietary and advanced FIR filtering technology, conceived for delivering transparent sound, absolute clarity and perfect stereo images to the listener. The FiRPHASE algorithm optimizes dynamics, amplitude and phase patterns, ensuring at the same time minimum system latency.
IN/OUT CONNECTORS
The amplifier presents both XLR In/Out connectors and a Jack input for the maximum connection versatility.
SWITCHABLE EQ MODE
A switchable EQ Mode makes it easier to select among two different equalisation presets:
– Extended response switch that slightly emphasizes the bass response for playback music and low volume applications;
– Linear response switch, when the speaker is used to amplify a live mix. The amplifier has a built in limiter circuit to prevent clipping or overdriving the transducers.
MIC/LINE SWITCH
A useful Mic/Line switch helps adjusting the input sensitivity. When used for speech, the [Mic] setting allows to use a microphone directly with the speaker. Set the selector to [Line] when using the speaker for live music or playback.
VOLUME KNOB
An easy to reach volume knob on the back allows to set the overall volume of the speaker according to its application.
STATUS LEDS
3 status LEDs – Power / Signal / Status are provided for monitoring the system.
Components
SUPERIOR DRIVERS
The 15” woofer delivers a deep and accurate reproduction of the mid-bass frequency range while the 1” compression driver offers a very open and natural midrange sound and extreme precision in high frequency reproduction.
Cabinet
THE ART 3 SERIES DESIGN
ART 3 speakers are ideal for the musician or sound provider. Their plug ‘n’ go design is simple yet powerful: double input (XLR or Jack), one volume knob. Cabinets are moulded on a special polypropylene composite material designed to dampen down vibrations even at maximum volume settings. From moulding to the final texture, ART3 offers maximum reliability and strength for intensive use. The ART 3 MK4 are equipped with handles for greater portability.
The sturdy, ergonomic cabinet is easy to carry thanks to the rubber-coated plastic handle. Take the ART 3 everywhere with you.
A side handle with internal rubber handgrip allows to firmly hold the cabinet and move it easily. Ergonomic design and carefully designed proportions, for all your transport needs.
The base of each speaker includes a steel pole socket for mounting on a stand or on a subwoofer pole. Stability and safety are assured.
Thanks to the rear profile of the cabinet, the ART 3 Series speakers can easily be used as stage monitors whatever the needs of musicians. Internal reinforcement prevents any deformation of the cabinet.
FiRPHASE
FIRPHASE
RCF speakers are designed by using FiRPHASE, a proprietary and advanced FIR filtering technology, conceived for delivering transparent sound, absolute clarity and perfect stereo images to the listener. The FiRPHASE algorithm optimizes dynamics, amplitude and phase patterns, ensuring at the same time minimum system latency.
PHASE MATTERS
The design of the FIR filter for this specific purpose should start from an accurate measurement of the loudspeaker phase. The FiRPHASE algorithm uses this measurement and adapts the loudspeaker’s phase without touching the amplitude equalization. The heart of the advanced technique used by FiRPHASE is a recursive method (Least Squared method) combined with a proprietary algorithm that calculates the best FIR filter coefficients set in according to amplitude and phase constraints. The algorithm corrects phase and amplitude (when necessary) by taking into account the weak points of the transducers and the resonances or cancellations due to the cabinet of the loudspeaker. Despite the design perfection of our transducers and cabinets, we realize that the phase corrections are the “missing point” for the perfection. This technique allows a deep control of phase at mid-low frequencies with relatively small filters, reaching a higher resolution than that one as theory suggests.
