The six XLR and two Combo connectors that are present on the M 18’s rear panel provide 8 mic preamp inputs, which are designed to lay the foundations for a transparent, warm and dynamic sound. Line inputs have been developed with the same focus. The 10 TS jacks from 9 to 18 provide the line inputs of the M 18. Two of them, 9 and 10, are switchable to Hi-Z – High Impedance input (1MΩ) – and allow direct connection of passive or low-level instruments directly, without the need for an adapter. This is the ideal solution for acoustic or electric or bass guitars with passive pickups. The remote-controlled Mic Gain allows the user to control the Mic Preamps and Line input Gain even at high distance from the M 18 box. All the settings are stored in the snapshot memories and can be recalled according to the user’s needs. Six +22 dB balanced AUX Outputs are on hand to connect stage monitors or external effect processors, in case the M 18’s internal processing is not sufficient for the user’s needs. The +22 dB balanced MAIN MIX outputs are supported by a pair of male XLR.
A headphones stereo output completes the M 18’s audio input and output suite. Using the Personal Mix function on the PHONES menu of MixRemote App it is possible to create a fully personalized stereo monitoring. The headphones’ output also offers MAIN MIX and, alternatively, PFL listening. MIDI IN and OUT ports are also present on the rear panel, allowing the connection of various types of MIDI controllers. The footswitch port allows connection of a single or double stage footswitch to recall effects’ presets or to mute effects’ returns, as well as providing several other control functions. A USB type-A port allows connection of USB devices, such as pen drives or hard disks, to create a complete stereo system for playback and audio recording: this supports all the most common audio file formats, both high-quality and compressed. The intuitive graphics of MixRemote App helps the user to manage song playlists also with the AUTO play function.

The EDIT button gives access to the complete processing chain, which is present on every M 18 input channel:
Input Gain with high pass filter, 48V phantom power switch for MIC input, phase inversion, and Hi-Z selection (available on channels 9 and 10) Noise Gate, an essential tool for the use of high sensitivity microphones Professional Compressor, perfect to manage sources with the most demanding dynamic program
The EDIT button gives access to the complete processing chain, which is present on every M 18 input channel:
All the input channels feature a four band parametric EQ, offering three intervention methods enabling different sound timbres.
The Standard EQ type features the classical frequency response curve, controlled by four separate bands. Ideal for precise intervention and accurate frequency adjustment.
The Vintage EQ type offers a specific sound print on all four bands, bringing to mind the great vintage equalizers of the analog world. With its distinctive sound-shaping algorithm, this EQ is perfect for voices and percussive instruments.
The Smooth EQ type features a modern and sonically flexible EQ section. Even the most demanding sounds are easy to equalize with this algorithm. Select your preferred type of smoothness for high and low frequencies.
The M 18 digital mixer can provide up to 19 simultaneous effects. Three of them are defined as “SEND EFFECTS” and are fed by dedicated FX SENDS. FX1 is a particularly deep and transparent reverb, providing a realistic simulation of large ambients, such as halls, or rooms and plates. FX2 is a professional delay with a tap time up to 2500 ms and dedicated filters on the feedback signal, thus creating interesting sounds and complex tapping effects. FX3 is an assignable multi-effect with several choices: chorus, flanger, pitch shifter, among the others.
A unique function that is available only in the M 18 digital mixer is the MultiFX effects chain. This powerful option can be applied to up to 4 channels: A freely ordered chain of three effects – Pitch Shifter, Chorus/Flanger, Delay – can be inserted into channels 5 and 6 or, alternatively, 7 and 8 Channels 9 and 10, which also have a selectable Hi-Z input line, provide an insert effect chain of 5 simultaneous effects.
This effect counts on as many as three different algorithms: Mono Delay, Vintage Delay and ER Delay.
Essential effect for any vocal or brass instrument. Using the LO-CUT and HI-CUT filter controls, musicians can generate sophisticated 1300ms rebound sounds with frequency-controlled feedback.
A variation of the MONO DELAY, the VINTAGE DELAY program increases the delay time up to 2500ms, and adds a vintage filter frequency control.
A shorter delay time, up to 200ms, produces very natural reflection sounds that are typical of small ambients. The filters’ control allows creating frequency-adjusted reflections.
An essential effect module for any guitar player. It helps creating spacious and clean guitar sounds and giving rise to unique atmospheres.
A fantastic “doubling” effect, ideal for guitars but also very effective when used on main vocals, and able to create impressive results. Try it!
Classic effect heard in many records, past and contemporary. Mostly used on guitars, but also on electric pianos.
Very useful effect, ideal to create detune effects or harmonized sounds. The extension of detune up to +/- 1 octave allows the use of Pitch Shifter as an “octaver” for bass or guitar typical sounds.
Indispensable tool for soul, funk and dance guitarists to re-create the characteristic sound of several hits of the 70’s and 80’s.
Very useful tool to create atmosphere sounds. Ideal to obtain psychedelic guitar and synth tones.
Nice tool for guitarists and bass players, allowing to obtain complex sounds composed by up to two additional octaves lower than the fundamental tone. Precise controls allow the user to measure out the desired octaves levels.
Emulation of a classic distortion pedal with a typical overdrive sound.
It reproduces the sound of classic distortion pedals. Tuning the three controls – DRIVE, LEVEL and TONE – it is possible to generate several nuances of distorted sounds, while maintaining a perfect dynamic control.
Designed for musicians. Two line inputs can be switched to a Hi-Z mode and host several realistic amp modeling simulators. Guitar and bass players can count on as many as 11 simulators specifically created for them: Darkface ‘65 (US), JazzC (JP), Rock ‘64 (UK), Rock 800 (UK) Crunch, Rock 900 (UK) Lead, Top30 (UK), Modern (US), BassMate (US), BassAmp (DE), Markbass Little Mark III (IT), Markbass TTE 500 (IT). Combine each amp with many different cabinets and explore various sound possibilities, emulating three types of microphone and three distinct positions: Near on axis, Near off axis, and Far from cabinet (1 m). The wide range of integrated sound options will allow every musician to re-create his own personal familiar sound without the need to transport heavy and bulky amplifiers and cabinets.
